World Go Vegan Week

In celebration of World Go Vegan Week (october 24-31) we will be serving delicious and healthy vegan entrees, soups and sides in the cafe.

We will offer 10% off all our vegan speciality sandwiches and desserts that week as well. I have found the best way to get people who might be skeptical about vegan food is to provide free samples, so that is also what we are going to do. Bring your friends by and sample some goodness together.

Being vegan is an act of extreme compassion and kindness, by intentionally living in harmony with and showing great respect for the animals we love, we honor them and ourselves.

By going vegan you decrease your global ecological footprint substantially, conserve precious fresh water as a resource, and demonstrate the depth of compassion from within you. We care so deeply about the community we love and want everyone to experience the natural radiance from within that occurs when we switch to a plant based diet.

I know going vegan is not for everyone all the time, but just as many of you have participated in Eat Local challenges, this holds as much significance to our planet, local farmers and your health. If you have any questions just give us a call or stop by the market....we are here to help.

Love and Kindness,
Carin

Autumn Eats

Today is the first day of October and we find ourselves planning our autumn offerings in the cafe. Nothing says fall to me more than roasted root vegetables. Their vibrant colors full of richness, perfectly seasoned and glistening.

This keeps me coming back for more every time it's on the buffet.
Other seasonal eats that inspire us are kale and yams, perfect companions, nutrient rich an equally delicious!!

We have had some truly amazing local organic produce arriving daily, every time I open a crate or box I find myself saying "wow, That is so beautiful!!
New autumn dishes we are going to feature will be an exciting experience for your palate as we love to try new things and be creative, always with using certified organic and local ingredients. Our deli case has many take out options, and don't forget about our increadible dessert selection. All hand made from scratch in our professional kitchen.

Sweet September

Greetings Everyone,
We hope this finds you well. We would like to thank you for your concern for our well being in the aftermath of Irene. To let everyone know we were amongst the lucky, we suffered no damage or losses. What has become even more apparent to us is the overwhelming sense of community spirit and pride that is so rich here. We all have a common reason for living here, and when someone needs help it in not the Vermont way to turn a blind eye, and we didn't. Together we raised over $8000 for local farmers and families in need through donations and CSA sigh ups, we also reinstated our Sweet Relief fund ( first created after the massive earthquake in Haiti) which gave another outlet for relief collection to get much appreciated funds to those in need.

At the end of the day we can say we have done all we can and are so proud to be a part of this community who is so generous and supportive.
We will be collecting donations for a while longer, the devastation was so wide spread, and there are still so many in need. Stop by for more information on how you can help.

Eating Well in the Real World

In today's fast paced lifestyle it can sometimes be challenging to find time to truly nourish ourselves with the foods we choose to eat. With spring here and the soon to be abundance of local organic greens, fruits and vegetables incorporating healthful raw plant matter into our diets could not be easier. Say goodbye to the pot pies and pasta laden meals and spring forth lighter, leaner and more radiant than you have ever been with raw foods. Here at Sweet Pea we stock the deli cooler with highly nutritious prepared foods like raw "cheesy" broccoli, chia pudding, guacamole and our outrageous sexy salsa, nut cheeses and raw dips. The selection changes but the staples remain. Our objective is to provide the community we love with delicious and nutritious real food and be available to answer questions and give advice on eating well.
Be well friends!
